In our completely hilly terrain the real challenge takes place. The
morphology of the soil, characterized by steep terraces, requires
a work carried out almost entirely by hand, which is defined as
“heroic cultivation” because taking care of these lands requires
strong dedication and a certain degree of madness.
Our plots are located in Valdobbiadene, Farra di Soligo, Tarzo,
Refrontolo and Susegana.
The vineyards in the steepest and most demanding hills are indi-
cated by the local term “Rive” and, to each Riva, a name, someti-
mes imaginative, is attributed to identify it. We work, for exam-
ple, on Riva Garboi, Riva Petola, Riva Muliana and many others.
Our vineyards are grown using the Sylvoz and Double Capo-
volto method with a density per hectare of 3,300 and 3,500 vines
which results in a lower unit production per vine but a higher
quality of the grapes obtained.
In our 20 hectares of steep hilly land, the soil morphology
imposes a process almost entirely by hand.
It is called “heroic cultivation” because it requires strong
commitment and a degree of madness!
Our most important vine is Glera, a basic component of Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore as it must make up at least 85% of the grapes used. Glera is a rustic
and vigorous vine thanks to repeated rains and temperature variations during the ripening phase, has hazelnut-colored shoots and produces large and long clusters with
golden yellow berries.
